| Title | Color and Shape Analysis of Agricultural Products. | ||
| Abstract | We have been studying
color, shape, and spectroscopic analysis on agricultural products and foods.
Here we introduce the color and shape analysis being done in our laboratory
for about ten years. We have been using the r-?-f coordinate system for
shape analysis and HSL (Hue, Saturation, and Lightness) color space for
colour analysis. At the same time, in order to effeciently make these analyses,
we developed the color image processing system with some Java applets and
Database.
First one is the kinetic analysis of surface color development in tomatoes during post-ripening by using the Hue and Saturation of HSL color space.
Second one is the topic on making standard colour chart of red grape with the surface texture by calculating the standard shape and hue value of the standard color in each maturation stage.
Third and last one is the ongoing project on the evaluation of tree vigor by digital camera based on fruit colour and leaf shape. In this project, it was examined a new technique for getting the information on the tree growth using a digital camera instead of the human eyes. We firstly established the method that the true surface color of the fruit cluster was measured with the standard RGB color chart and the color transformation matrix in the outdoor conditions, then we studied the nutrient conditions by the shape analysis of the grape leaf so that the character of the shape was quantitatively classified. |
